Peachtree Selects Atlanta as Headquarters

Atlanta, GA, September 19, 2008 at 07:00 AM (ET)
Peachtree BioResearch Solutions Inc., a provider of outsourced development services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries, selects Atlanta as its’ new headquarters.
Atlanta has long been the economic powerhouse of the Southeast. The area’s quality of life, extensive infrastructure, and low costs have maintained its’ attraction as the leading new job generator and newcomer magnet over the last decade.
The Atlanta region is a top place to locate headquarters, new businesses and operations, according to top business magazines, and ranks fifth in the nation for the number of Fortune 500 headquarters. Coca-Cola, Cox Communications, Delta Air Lines, Equifax, The Home Depot, United Parcel Service, and now Peachtree are among those companies headquartered in metropolitan Atlanta. Additionally, major communication companies such as CNN and Turner Broadcasting are also based in Atlanta.
Peachtree’s employees will benefit from a median cost of living that is lower than the national average for the United States and significantly lower than average compared to similar-size markets. Metro Atlanta has ranked among the top five in the nation in new job growth for the last decade. Metro Atlanta is forecasted to be the third-largest job generator over the next decade.
Additionally, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest airport, will allow Peachtree associates to reach more than 80 percent of the US population and nation’s 150 largest metro areas within a two-hour flight time. The Atlanta airport also offers direct flights to over 50 international destinations.
Georgia is home to more than 270 bioscience companies. Georgia continues to build a thriving bioscience industry due in part to research that exceeds $1 billion and a successful partnership between industry and academia. Georgia's bioscience industry has grown to be the nation's seventh-largest, up from 11th in 2001. Between 2001 and 2006, the number of bioscience establishments increased by 38.3 percent. The bioscience community in Georgia is a rich mix of:
- Pharmaceutical
- Medical device
- Diagnostic and medical supply companies
- Emerging bioscience companies
- Contract laboratory
- Preclinical and clinical research organizations
- World-class public and private research institutions and universities
Atlanta is home to the headquarters of the premier public health research institute in the world, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Atlanta’s institutions of higher learning include 30 accredited colleges and universities. Emory University, Georgia State University, the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), the University of Georgia, the Medical College of Georgia, Mercer University, Clark Atlanta University, and the Morehouse School of Medicine are key centers for bioscience research in areas including immunology, cancer, AIDS, vaccine development and neuroscience.
Kristy Nichols, Peachtree’s President said, “we look forward to joining other Atlanta companies, universities, research institutions, government groups and other industry associations involved in discovery and application of life sciences products and related services that improve the health and well-being of people throughout the world.”
“Having worked in the Atlanta pharmaceutical sector for over nine years, I am convinced the region offers a highly skilled and experienced workforce. This workforce in combination with Atlanta’s high quality of life with reduced costs of living, results in satisfied employees and higher than average retention rates.” she added.
